Introduction to the Caribbean Islands

Strewn like a string of emeralds in a clear blue sea, the Caribbean Islands are perhaps the nearest thing to paradise on earth. Each island has its own particular character, and will appeal to a slightly different type of traveller. Whether your preference is for pampered luxury or raw nature, you will not be disappointed. This website will attempt to provide some essential information on each island, and links to other sites where individual islands can be explored in more detail.

Each Island has a page of 'Fast Facts' - basic information like the language, currency and the airport code. The latter is helpful when getting quotations for flights. It saves wading through long lists to find the appropriate airport, as well as ensuring that you arrive where you are expecting to, not at the wrong end of one of the larger islands.

This website will be developed over the next few months to provide essential information on each island, together with links to other sites where individual islands can be explored in more detail. It will take time to correlate all the information and filter out the dross, so please be patient and keep returning.

The section on activities will cover the main reasons for visiting the Caribbean - liming, scuba, golf, fishing etc. - and give guidance on the pros and cons of each island.
